I looked netbook for about 2 months, comparing their different characteristics. Then I went on the road to see for himself and put his hands on the keyboard. In the end I chose the Toshiba NB205-N325, because he has met all my criteria (Windows 7, expandable RAM, long battery life, and improving the overall quality) and because it is the best keyboard for the hands. Chicklet keys are large and the subclavian artery slows down a little 'out of a full size version. After shopping around I ended up buying directly from Amazon. They had the best price on Cyber Monday to 329 99. Interestingly, the price is now again up to 380 + so I guess I got lucky with the weather.

I threw the upgrade to 2 GB of RAM in my cart and the car appeared at my door about 8 days later. Start up is a breeze. He found my home network and network printer without problems. I downloaded Chrome as my browser without problems, has allowed the process of Norton (still shopping for an antivirus program), and activated the free trial version of Office (actually, I have the software, but don 't even turn on my copy). I included several USB devices without the release of a wireless mouse and an external hard drive. No problem. The 160 GB hard drive has enough space and you do not want to do and store the video files that should never need more. After about an hour, I stopped the bullet and installed 2 GB of RAM, which is easy to do. Simply remove a screw on a small blanket on the back and the chip is there.

Pop out the old and new, then start the backup. The manual explains it perfectly. It was not long enough on the chip with 1 GB to give you a comparison on performance, but with 2 GB seems as fast as my other laptop. I think this upgrade is evident if you plan to use the netbook for something more than reading e-mail. The only problem I had was the display. 2 hours after I started the screen suddenly gone mad, shooting everything. I was talking with a wireless phone at the moment and take in some cases interfere with the display. It 'happened two days later, only that I was talking on the phone. Both times I learned to stop and pause, then start the backup (which only takes a few seconds). I do not know what to do with this, but so far not been repeated, at least I know how to stop it. If it happens again I will call Toshiba.

My overall impression is that I love this guy. Not everything I wanted and is the ultimate in portability. I use it and out all day, closing the lid, when I did, which is in standby. He wakes up almost immediately, so it's a great way to prolong the battery. The only time I put it in the night. I never dealt with the operation of the battery down. The fit and finish of the machine are formidable. Toshiba has hit a home run with this model. Gets 5 stars from me.

I am very happy with this netbook to date. It's nice looking, seems robust. Trackpad had some minor problems, but if you check that all the proper drivers are installed, then this should solve the problem. Home Premium upgrade to Win7 somehow deleted the driver trackpad, but it was easy to reinstall. Battery life is great, my first real tests that are well above 7, probably closer to 8 hours of use, and is also a lot of downloading, burning a large disk with LG SuperDrive Portable ( Bus Powered), and the other uses the power of hunger beautiful.

Win7 Starter is deliberately restricted, so that Microsoft can gouge you $ 75 to upgrade to Home Premium. It 'a shame, but it seems Bill Gates has billions is not enough. Of course, other options are Vista (yuck!) Or XP (2gens old now!). If you are a student of purchase to use the school to search for the Win7 special price, you can upgrade for only $ 30 and get Office Ultimate for just $ 60. Great deal. I also recommend investing in a portable SuperDrive. Toshiba does, but do not buy the LG that I have works very well with this computer. Most people still require a RAM 2 GB DDR2 stick. I have not received yet, but I am already, after a few days, I can say that the computer is just a little 'tired' and a little more RAM would really do the trick.

So now we speak more than $ 500, depending on the type of deals you can get on the netbook itself and all add-ons. As we have seen, a full size laptop for sale come with their good and Win7 HomePremium SuperDrive included for less than that, so if you need portability and battery, a normal laptop would be best for you. But for one student is a great buy. Super portable, high autonomy and with the right tools is all you need. If you do not want to be forced to work on the small screen all the time, work, or a desktop at an affordable price or use a screen size of currency addon you can use when you are home. Wireless mouse and, perhaps, a full size keyboard would be a nice bonus too.

After the confrontation so I ordered the NB205-325BN on all others. We already have a network of Asus book with XP installed at home so I knew very well I would buy another Asus. Not doing the research I ordered the NB205 and a 2GB memory module at 800 MHz, at the same time and also installed before turning on the computer. First remember that a book NET has a number of specific tasks, it runs smoothly, stick to that end and not a little 'whining on your computer. Wi-Fi is able to capture weak signals and not fall. The keyboard is very comfortable to use. The keyboard should be tailored to my preferences, but it is easier to use than most. Battery life is excellent, I am just over 9 hours of life, to be used for the webcast and normal use. The shape and finish are great, the screen is great and I like the finish Sable Brown. Windows 7 works start slowly. I had no problems with the operating system. I run regular Skype and Windows 2 or 3 cards at a time. This model is not Blue Tooth so remember that if you request it. Toshiba has a great reputation for quality and customer service too. There are many choices now for the books, but then if this is a throw away camera for you then invest in quality and this little computer is just that, their quality. Small, lightweight and very capable of playing his "homework.
