The unit works very well in XP. USB power is a double-edged sword. Without power, but requires 2 USB ports. This can be problematic on machines with only 2 USB ports, as I like to use a mouse pad on the real track. I have not tried a powered hub or not, but expects the side of the cable (fatter), connected to the computer, and the signal through a hub will work. The only problem is that I'm getting is recognized in DOS, which is the main reason I bought the unit. I wanted something I could use to write a ghost image of PC with an old tape recorder.

Like others, this does not come with a case, then it really should buy if case available. I got my stuffed in an old CASELOGIC for a portable CD player back when, and has room for some CDs, but not fit in the laptop bag. Again, like many other units, you can get noisy when running at high speed. There is a site for products Samsung Optical, MagicSpeed can download , and can decrease the speed for quieter operation. Direer and firmware updates are here too.

Everything works as advertised right out of the box. No problem playing movies, music, data reading and recording DVDs. The buyer must know that the connection requires two available USB slots that are physically together.

I got the player in time and in good order. It is installed immediately with one of two USB connectors. I burned DVD and play music and movies, without embarrassment.

It was easy to install, but had problems with it for burning CDs, especially the portraits. After I finally figured out how to use the Nero software, and try to burn the CD, which keeps telling me to insert a CD in the drive. I have a CD in the drive, but it is referring to the CD is not working, the drawer and the internal market is still open. I also have the fate of Nero software tagged as the unit of Samsung and is constantly asking me to load a CD into the drive inside. As for games, no problem with it.

Product was delivered on time and as advertised. The reason I bought this unit, my Acer Aspire One Netbook requires the recovery disk for the drive to put in a DVD, not an external hard drive. The cable for the drive requires two USB ports (which should be very close). The drive tray will not open when you have a part of his hand on top of the unit (using a right-handed). The force required to actuate the button causes the drive tray to slide. Then, opening the drawer, on the one side is not so easy. Otherwise, it works well.
