LeahD ( Springfield, IL ) A year ago, I bought a Compaq laptop for home use, thinking it would be more portable if necessary. Well, the notebook can be done at all, they're also a little 'heavy. For my birthday this year, after a search netbook, I purchased a Lenovo Ideapad S10 from Amazon with a neoprene bag (with handles) and 2 GB of memory. Holding the netbook is nearly the same size and weight, as a small bag, which is not to play or download a lot of photos or video, If this netbook, with a memory upgrade is perfect for my needs. After further research, I bought a SSD to replace the hard drive and memory card from SanDisk 8 GB for backup, etc. In the end I upload my Microsoft Home & Student 2007 suite so that the netbook will be the same and processing capabilities text data that my laptop. Lenovo immediately connected to broadband with Sprint, too. So far, so good - very happy with my purchase and with excellent service from Amazon!

D. Deavours ( Chicago ) I go to this version of the S10 and I used a lot around the house and travel by train to work. In addition to the S10 that I bought a 9-cell battery to replace the spare battery, 2GB of RAM and a stick to hit the RAM from 1GB to two. Before the screen. This is a 10 "netbook, and has a resolution of 1024x600. If you do a little 'heavy graphics, so it's not the right tool. But for Web browsing and e-mail works very well.
The keyboard is a little 'tight and I'm about to hit the keys when typing. But with a little' adjustment 'I can not get used to the keyboard and the layout. The wireless works a lot and I was able to connect to my wireless router with WPA2 + PSK. I was able to point 1.04MB/sec for download from the Internet - faster than my desktop PC. Clearly, wireless is not the bottleneck. Using the webcam works for Skype to find. The resolution is a little 'weak, but it works very well for an integrated webcam. The microphone does not work very well, but I added a USB phone Skype to improve the global voice on Skype in any way. (I recommend a USB Skype phone or headset, if you wish to make voice calls only, it really makes a world of difference.)
The S10 has only 2 USB ports, so if you have a group of USB devices, I recommend a small town travel. I have a mouse and CD / DVD in a 2-door only, but to add a USB flash drive would have taken a hub. The only slight negative I found is the SD card reader makes it impossible to push the card in the way - in a sense, halfway, and is a little 'exposed. I wanted to use the SD card to a device backup for my adventures operating system updated (see below), but this does not work because the blocks SDCard too far left, during normal operation. On the positive side did a great job for me to upload my images without the need a USB port.
The 9-cell battery freezes in the back of the S10 so far, creating a significant impact on their shoulders. It 'sort of hanging down, creating a mini multimedia notebook that elevates and tilts forward, the S10 ¾ inches. The only complaint I have with the battery is almost always pay! I do not know if the battery or not, but the 3-cell battery supplied with the S10 has a slow recharge. However, from 7 to 8 hours of battery up to, and now I have a spare (old cell 3) to appear as a backup.
FWIW, I deleted all partitions and put software OEM & Windows 7 (RC 1 Build 7100) on the S10. All hardware drivers were downloaded and installed without any major work on my part. The web camera has been detected and there was an update for the Intel I had after I did the Windows update. But for a beta (or Release Candidate) of the operating system was surprisingly painless. Windows 7 boots and runs as fast as Windows XP. After putting 2 sticks in the UK are satisfied with the performance. Overall, the S10 packs all that I need a 10 "netbook.
