I bought for my son and I was very surprised to see how the computer. To be so small and inexpensive, it will be nothing you can do with a normal notebook. Only bad part is not having a cd-rom, but not that big of a contract, because you can connect to an external drive.

Do not start right out of the box. So the expected number of FedEx Back to repair incorrect. Concerns have only just begun. Very unhappy to say the least.

I bought a netbook after seeing it demonstrated on television. Went into a retail store and great people find another brand and it is more convenient and is purple. Okay - attracted by color. However, it was so for about a week and sent packing back to the first place that sent and kept the Acer. The other was too hot, which cost more and was sent without works, such as advertising and customer service to try to get the manufacturer to suck! My brother came to visit and play with my Acer just a little 'and decided that she would find one and it did. He returned to Colorado and my father played with a little' and I bought. The two lovers. Father called Geek Squad and received his tweeked to adjust to macular degeneration and is now very happy.

Because of a small inheritance, I decided that I received 3 of these for my 3 grandchildren shop around to find the best deal I could get - before Christmas and then I could do it and them some 'Tweek' for boys. You will find here at amazon.com, for 3 (black, red and blue) and seemed to happen before the keywords - it was too fast. We opened 22 since I traveled with them for part of the holiday. The reactions are have been even greater than expected. Two of them will turn into January and February 12 and the youngest is 9 and received on these subjects and slept. Fortunately, there was no available WiFi at home with my son. They respond much faster compared to the old laptop for my son. I thought the mine, but he showed me, after downloading iTunes on 2 of netbooks and then try to download to your laptop computer - has finally given on the handset.

I highly recommend this little netbook. I have a big pile on my own, but should be updated about how the boys will be a way to ensure that from time to time and get his nose out of your computer. Even with the battery I have now, I think that connects most of the time at home, in any case, so really do not need the battery. As an album, bought a few "that has an external DVD burner that my PC at home does not have. I am a happy camper again - this highly recommended.

Decision to purchase a netbook was made in consideration of what my son and daughter each wanted for this Christmas: An ipod Touch. After looking at the Touch and noting that the only interface to the device was through iTunes, I opted out. Sure, the Touch is sexy and sleek, but many reviewers complained that Apple in effect controls your use of the Touch through iTunes, so your "ownership" is not what you think it is. I didn't like this unnecessary restriction so looked for something else.

Then I had an idea to purchase something a little more useful. My children said they wanted the Touch to listen to music and surf the web. So I thought to myself, for about the same price I can get them a netbook which does the same thing and more with a larger screen. After reading reviews of the Acer and other brands, I decided to have the children try out some of the brands at a local electronics store to get a feel for their use. They loved Acer's sleek design and its overall feel. My next step was to purchase: One came from Amazon and one from another source since at that time the black one was priced too high at Amazon. (I don't understand why Amazon does this and so frequently.)

I am content with the purchase. I specifically wanted Windows XP with SP3 because my children like the interface and because I knew it well myself. For my son there was another benefit to using XP: He was able to load and run a school copy of Autocad for his drafting class. While the 3-D is pretty slow, the 2-D works fine. He is extremely happy that he can use his netbook at home for his drafting class activities using this tool. (BTW, Autocad has problems with Vista and is not fully supported on Windows 7 yet, hence the need for XP.)

My only complaint (and hence not 5 stars) is the relatively low battery life. You can get about 2 hours even when disabling the WiFi. But the rest is fine: The screen looks good, the speed is adequate, it is not too hard to get used to the smaller keyboard, the webcam is OK, and at about 3 lbs it is extremely portable. Sound quality is poor but for this price you can't ask for much; good headphones can be had at good prices nowadays.

Bloatware is present but easy to remove. Comes with McAfee trial version which I promptly uninstalled using AppRemover. Because of the WiFi connectivity, it is important to protect your computer as much as possible. Some good free options are Online Armor (firewall), Avira Personal (anti-virus), and Spybot S&D (for adware). Lots of other free goodies available including: OpenOffice, Firefox, FoxItReader (for Acrobat files), [...], 7-Zip, etc.

In summary, for about the same price as a Touch you can get a nice netbook that does much more without giving up your control to another company. Choosing the XP operating system was important for me, especially in light that it supports Autocad and Windows 7 Starter is intentionally restricted. Performance and features are adequate for the price. It is extremely portable and useful; met the needs of the kids and they couldn't be happier.
